Gisela Dulko falls at Wimbledon in a hard battle against Dementieva

Gisela Dulko - Wimbledon 2008
Gisela Dulko falls at Wimbledon in a hard battle against Dementieva

Gisela Dulko was defeated at Wimbledon by Elena Dementieva, 5th seed, in a 2 set battle.

Elena Dementieva fought really hard and took the match from Gisela Dulko 7-6 7-5.

Dementieva started the match playing bad and inconsistent while Dulko was playing great tennis that allowed her to break Dementieva twice and to take a 4-0 lead but when it looked like Dulko had the first set in her pocket Elena Dementieva picked up her game and forced to a tie break and then took the set.

During the second set the battle continued with both players determined to take it but at 5-5 Dementieva found the way to break Dulko and then held to close the match.

It's a shame that Gisela Dulko could not be consistent with her game during the first set because if she had we might have had another upset.
Dulko has a very nice game, has a great variety but her mental straight is very weak.

Elena Dementieva made the quarterfinals at Wimbledon 2 years ago and she is just one match away to tie her best performance but she won't have an easy match in the fourth round because she will meet the winner of the match between Shahar Peer and Dinara Safina, let's see if she can go even further this year.

Gisela Dulko is happy to be in the third round of Wimbledon

Gisela Dulko - Wimbledon 2008
Gisela Dulko is happy to be in the third round of Wimbledon

Today there are some article about Gisela Dulko but are all in Spanish so I will translate parts of them to let you know what Gisela Dulko said from Wimbledon about Lindsay Davenport's withdrawal.

Gisela Dulko told the media today that she was surprised by the retirement of Davenport and that at first she was sorry for Lindsay but inside she was happy about it. Dulko said that a touch of lucky is always welcome and that she found about the withdrawal after Lindsay's coach talked to her.

Dulko, who won her third title in Morocco this year is having a good time in London doing other things and said that she will try to take advantage of this free pass to the third round and hopes to get into the second round of Wimbledon.

Gisela Dulko will face Elena Dementieva. Dulko played her a few times before and the Argentine added that she knows how Dementieva plays, she knows her well and she got good results against her before.

So Dulko is in the third round of Wimbledon, let's hope she can keep going deeper in the draw.
